In December we added 803 new user journeys. That number is down from November because we were busy buying from 100+ companies. Phew!
The MailCharts data team did a bit of everything: signing up for newsletters, creating accounts, abandoning browse sessions, and requesting or abandoning quotes or reservations. We do all of this so you can see the exact email journeys big-name brands like Nordstrom are sending as well as smaller, niche, companies like TOMS.

452 newsletter subscriptions
December is all about shopping, but we never stop signing up for new companies or refreshing older registrations (e.g. to see if a company’s welcome flow has changed). Here are some of the brands whose email list we joined in December:
- Shoes of Prey (France and Spain)
- Betfair (Australia)
- Eminence Organic Skin Care
Many of these journeys were requested by users like you (and we love it when you ask us to track new companies). Thanks to our customers we now track more than 30,000 brands!
188 abandoned carts
We set a record in December: We abandoned 188 shopping carts to study their checkout and recovery process. Here are some of the companies whose cart we abandoned:
- The Home Depot
- Barneys New York
- Kawasaki USA
- Monsoon London
- Norwegian Cruise Line (UK)
As a MailCharts user, you can track your competitors and examine exactly how they nurture users. If you’re interested in a user journey we don’t already have (e.g. a cart abandoner) just let us know — we can easily add new journeys for you.
111 purchase journeys totaling $3,317
We didn’t shop just for our own friends and family in December. We shopped for you!
Special props to our data team!
Our data team took the 100+ shopping lists you gave us – the companies you asked us to track for you – and purchased items to track the resulting email journeys.
Here are some of the companies we bought from last month:
- Ace Hardware
- Best Buy
- Walmart Canada
- Michaels Stores
